College Opportunities for High School Students

COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Dear Student: As a Pueblo County District 70 high school junior or senior, you can enjoy privileges and advantages of being in both high school and college. Concurrent enrollment students have the opportunity to take college courses at Pueblo Community College (PCC) and Colorado State University – Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo), which count toward your high school graduation elective requirements, and a college degree or certificate.

What you need to do if you are interested in attending PCC:

  • Contact your high school counselor.
  • Apply for admission to PCC online at: pueblocc.edu. Print a copy of the acceptance letter for your records and one for the high school. Make sure you copy down your “S” number.
  • Take the ACCUPLACER test at PCC, call – 549-3091 for information about dates and times. You will need to take your school ID or License and your “S” number from your PCC application. Scores will determine which classes you are eligible to enroll in. For SPRING 2018 classes, the ACCUPLACER needs to be completed by November 8, 2017.
  • Apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) at cof.college-assist.org, click on the “Apply Now” button. Print a copy of the COF verification sheet for your application and the high school. Please remember to write down your unique user name and password that you get to choose.
  • Complete and submit a “Student and Parent Agreement Form”.
  • Complete and submit a “Statewide Agreement Form”.
  • Submit a copy of your most recent high school transcript and your ICAP (Individual Career/Academic Plan) from your Naviance account.
  • Attend an advising session with a representative from PCC.
  • PCC First –Time Early College (part time or full time) Informational Session: Wednesday, November 8, 2017 starting at 8:30am at Rye HS.
  • Turn in your completed application packet to your high school counselor by Thursday, November 30, 2017.
  • Attend an orientation at PCC to ensure student success.

What you need to do if you are interested in attending CSU-Pueblo:

  • Contact your high school counselor.
  • List of course offerings is on CSU-Pueblo’s website.   csupueblo.edu, click on “Quick Links”, under “Academics”, click on “Course Offerings”
  • Complete the “Concurrent Enrollment Request Form” 3 pages
  • Apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) at cof.college-assist.org, click on the “Apply Now” button. Print a copy of the COF verification sheet for your application and the high school. Please remember to write down your unique user name and password that you get to choose.
  • Submit a copy of your most recent high school transcript and your ICAP (Individual Career/Academic Plan)
  • Submit Accuplacer or ACT test scores if needed.
  • Turn in your completed application packet to your high school counselor by Thursday, November 30, 2017.
